Penstemon DAKOTA™ 'Burgundy'

Penstemon hyb.
An outstanding, long-lived compact penstemon for gardens and containers! We love penstemons' gorgeous, healthy foliage and carillon of rosy lavender bells rising above the wine-purple leaf rosettes. Hummingbirds love them, too, and entertain us with their curiosity about our presence as we sit quietly and watch them hover nearby at eye height, then zoom away to find another stash of nectar. Patented.

PLACEMENT & CULTIVATION
Attractive to bees, hummingbirds, and butterflies, but not deer, beardtongue provides a welcome vertical focal point in sunny borders, cottage and container gardens. Prefers very well-drained soils, especially in winter—plant in raised beds or slopes for superior drainage. Deadhead or cut for bouquets to keep the show going until frost. It is very easy to grow and a profuse bloomer throughout the season. Enjoy the decorative seed heads in the fall, waiting until late fall to cut back for vigorous spring growth.
